Rat Characteristics

A highly intelligent yet much-maligned animal in Western cultures, the rat is widely used in scientific research. Although rats may not approach cognitive tasks using strategies observed in human subjects, they are frequently successful on their own terms. Indeed, rats are adept at exploring procedural loopholes and confounded variables overlooked by humans. They have very good long term memories and are excellent when it comes to adapting to changing situations.

In various cultures, the rat is revered for its cunning and resourcefulness. And for good reason - the rat has successfully colonised every continent on Earth except for Antarctica.

Because of these characteristics, I definitely decided that a rat would be the perfect animal to design my post-apocalyptic character on, considering their intelligence and hardiness when faced with difficult situations.
